Episode 375: Mommy, They Don’t Like You Part 1

This 3-part series is one of JJ’s walking videos on a cold and windy days, and we acknowledge upfront that the audio is not that great. If you are watching on YouTube, there appears to be a slight disconnect between the lips and audio at times. We do apologize, but we feel that the energy of the video can’t be duplicated in a more pristine environment.

However, we are sharing because you, too, might have trouble making friends when you move into a new town, especially if you’re in your late 40s and beyond.

Unfortunately, my little Cubbie, 8 years old, noticed I was having trouble breaking into a friend group and drew parallels to how he’s having trouble making friends at his new school.

JJ is pretty raw in this video, and there’s minimal editing from the live broadcast that this was pulled from. She talks about life as a newbie in a small town, how hard it is for certain races to assimilate, “passing for white,” the guy living in his van, why JJ no longer likes the phrase “strong independent woman,” and other hard-hitting topics.

Finally, there is a fair amount of religion and faith discussion (as is typical of the walking videos). We love and accept all people on our platform, so we hope you will receive JJ’s message with grace.
